In a time where many look back at 2006, we like to look forward and we have found 32 industry executives prepared to do it with us. We where surprised though that mainly the small and midsized developers responded to our mailings and not the big ones that often reach the news which of we contacted some as well. We have listed all forecasts below in alphabetical order.

ACCOUNTING IN MOBILE GAMES; A BIG PAIN

MobileIndustry has an interesting editorial about the problems in accounting for mobile. Even though our business model is much simpler, it seems we can’t avoid making mistakes in reporting. The only thing I miss is an estimation of the average size of unreported downloads.

DAVID GOOSEN: MOBILE TO OVERTAKE CONSOLES

In a article related to their interview with David Goosen, CEO of I-Play, MobileIndustry dives deeper into the mobile vs. console topic. David compares the number of consoles on the market over the past 25 years (300M) and mobile sold every year (800M). Reading these numbers, it only makes sense to say that IP owners can earn more on the mobile market even though the revenues are much smaller.

FLOODGATE’S MO-PETS AND SONY BMG CONNECTION

Gamasutra has put online it’s latest Q&A which involves Floodgate’s Mathew Bellows. The interview is really interesting as it explains the success of Mo-Pets mobile games is for a big part made possible by Sony BMG and their excellent carrier connections.

CARPHONE WAREHOUSE AND D2C CONTENT

Retail giant Carphone Warehouse has announced it’s plans to preinstall it’s own mobile content portal on mobile phones. They will install a J2me based storefront. Initially this will happen via SMS push, but the plans are to have it done directly at the handset vendors. The portal is names mymobilelife and will include mobile games amongst other mobile content. Read the full article at
